WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF WEB3 GAMING
thirdweb's goal is to accelerate adoption of web3 gaming by giving developers best-in-class tools to build incredible blockchain games. With that in mind, we will be running a hackathon supporting web3 game development from January 16th - February 13th, with winners announced on Friday, February 17th.
We believe the future of gaming is web3 and to underscore our vision, we’re partnering with some of the biggest logos in the ecosystem to incentivize the creation of innovative blockchain games.
GamingKit is a full-stack web3 game development kit empowering builders to integrate web3 primitives into browser-based games built with the Unity game engine on EVM-compatible chains.

Requirements
Project Details
- Name and overview of project
- Names/pseudonyms of team members and contact info (e.g., GitHub handle, email address, or other)
- Which Hackathon Build track(s) you are submitting your build to (please make sure to read the track details in order to ensure eligibility)
Source Code Repository Link
- Submit public & decentralized app repository on GitHub and link to the thirdweb Dashboard project
- Provide a detailed README and clear description of the game mechanics, an explanation of how thirdweb’s GamingKit and other required elements are used based on submission track, all mentioned in the Technologies Used section of the README.
- Include a link to the working demo or provide a testing guide
Showcase
- Create a written breakdown of the project and tech stack used published to a dev forum like stackoverflow, dev.to or Hashnode
- Create a video of the above breakdown introducing your team, your approach, and usage of thirdweb on YouTube, Vimeo, or using Loom and published to Twitter. It's important that this is publicly accessible.
- Include a link to your project breakdown in your submission
Miscellaneous
- All eligible projects must be deployed to a testnet or mainnet and utilize thirdweb’s GamingKit, including the UnitySDK in some way shape or form (unless otherwise stated).
- All submissions must be open-source
- Must be created during the Hackathon
- Must be original IP
- In addition, they must adhere to all the above requirements and the specific asks of the track you’re submitting to. Please be sure to call out these details in your submission as requested.

- Gaming has always been one of the most exciting areas for both technological innovation and in-depth storytelling. We believe web3 has an opportunity to make these two pillars even more powerful, through aligned incentives for game players and developers, alike. It is paramount that builders incorporate a seamless onboarding and playing experience for early web3 gamers — without a simple UX we’ll lose the most passionate players before we’ve even started.

Under the Hood | thirdweb x Coinbase Cloud
- $2,000 - Leverage thirdweb and Coinbase infrastructure in a web3 gaming build to further highlight the GamingKit collaboration. You must, at minimum, include the Unity SDK, Coinbase Wallet or Coinbase Pay, and thirdweb Storage or Auth. Please make sure to reference the Submission Requirements and Judging Criteria to give yourself the best chance at winning.
